WHAT CAUSES COLDS AND FLU?
Colds and the flu are caused by getting an infection of a cold or flu virus. There are many cold viruses out there, some estimates are over 200. There is a much less number of flu virus and frequently the current flu virus is given a name like in 1968 the hong kong flu or this year swine flu.
Colds and flu virus infect us when we touch infected surfaces, eg door handles or when shaking hands. Next the virus is passed from your hands to your mouth, nose or eyes. These viruses can also spread from person to person as droplets in the air. Therefore sneezing and or coughing will produce more droplets in the air and increases the spread the infection.
